The Dogs Breakfast takes place on Thursday April 29 with doors opening at 6:45 and the pre-breakfast program starting at 7:00. The official program starts at 7:30 at Prairieland Park. The guest speaker is Warren Moon

The Huskies Football Foundation has decided to move the breakfast into the bigger Hall E at Prairieland Park due to the number of tickets sold. Last year the event was held in Hall B because of a trade show.

Organizers have planned a program where most of the action takes place in the center of the hall so that all seats will be good. There will be even more big screens and better lighting to make sure that everyone can see.

The program will feature a few surprises along with the introduction of the new recruits and the announcement of the Huskies Football Ambassador Award.

There are still tickets available and you can get them online at the Huskies Football Foundation website.

The Huskies Football Foundation announced today that Pro Football Hall of Famer Warren Moon will be the Keynote Speaker at the Tenth Anniversary Dogs Breakfast scheduled for Prairieland Park on Thursday April 29th. The Breakfast is expected to attract over 2,000 football fans.

Hugh Vassos, Vice-chair of the Foundation, commented: “We are very fortunate to have Warren Moon as our speaker. Warren started his professional football career in Canada with the Edmonton Eskimos. He looks back to his time in the CFL with fond memories. Warren is excited to come to Saskatoon. Thanks to the Siemens Transportation Group, for once again sponsoring our Keynote Speaker.”

Ryan Lejbak, Chair of Dogs Breakfast 10, announced that tickets for the best football breakfast in Canada are now available by going on-line to or by calling (306) 966-1021. Lejbak added: “We wanted to do something special for Dogs’ Breakfast 10. In addition to having one of the all-time great quarterbacks, we will announce the third recipient of the Huskies Football Ambassador Award and introduce some of the new recruits who will be a part of another Vanier Cup run for the Huskies.”

Todd Peterson, Chair of the Foundation, reminded football fans: “The Dogs Breakfast continues to raise much-needed football scholarship funds for the Huskies. The scholarships are essential if the Huskies are to field a championship calibre team. We congratulate head coach Brian Towriss for his 26 outstanding years as Huskies Head Coach and we want to assist him as he continues the winning tradition of Huskie Football.”

The event is one of the top football fundraisers in Canada that annually generates over $100,000 for football scholarships to the U of S. In total, over $700,000 has been raised since 2001. The Dogs’ Breakfast is one of Canada’s largest sports breakfasts with about 2,000 people in attendance.

Previous Dogs’ Breakfast speakers include: Brian Towriss, D.D. Lewis, Bobby Jurasin, Glen Suitor, Steve Mazurak, George Reed, Ron Lancaster, Matt Dunigan and Russ Jackson.

Huskies Head Coach Brian Towriss added, “The Dogs’ Breakfast is held on the weekend of the Huskie Football Spring Camp and many of the speakers stay in Saskatoon for a few extra days and help coach during the camp. In fact, some of the previous speakers return each season to lend their support to the team.”

About Warren Moon

The Huskies Football Foundation is pleased to announce that Warren Moon will be the guest speaker at the Tenth Anniversary of the Dogs’ Breakfast. The Dogs’ Breakfast will be held on Thursday, April 29 at Prairieland Park beginning at 7:30am. Doors open at 6:45 with a pre-breakfast program kicking-off at 7:00am.

Warren Moon played college football for the University of Washington Huskies where he threw 18 touchdown passes in only two seasons. He then headed north and played in the Canadian Football League for six seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos. During this time, he led the Eskimos to five consecutive Grey Cup victories.

After an incredible CFL career, Moon topped that while playing for four teams in the National Football League. Most of his time was spent with the Houston Oilers (1984-1993) where he rejuvenated the franchise and made them a perennial playoff contender. Moon led the Oilers to seven consecutive playoff appearances and two division titles.

Moon was traded to the Minnesota Vikings after the 1993 season. He took the Minnesota Vikings (1994-1996) to the playoff three times in three years, although he missed a number of games in 1996 due to injury.

Moon then signed a free agent contract with the Seattle Seahawks and played there from 1997 to 1998. He led the team to a .500 record over that span.

With a front office change in Seattle, Moon moved to the Kansas City Chiefs for two seasons (1999-2000) and then retired.

Combining his NFL and CFL stats, Moon’s numbers are nearly unmatched in professional football: 5,357 completions in 9,205 attempts for 70,553 yards and 435 touchdowns. Even if his Canadian League statistics are discounted, Moon’s career is still exceptional: 3,988 completions for 49,325 yards, 291 touchdown passes, 1,736 yards rushing, and 22 rushing touchdowns.

Warren Moon also holds individual NFL lifetime records for most fumbles recovered 56 and most fumbles made 162. Moon was in the top 5 all-time when he retired for passing yards, passing touchdowns, pass attempts, and pass completions.

Moon held the record for most passing yards in professional football until surpassed by Damon Allen on September 4, 2006, held the record for most passing touchdowns in professional football until surpassed by Brett Favre on November 22, 2007, held the record for most pass completions in professional football until surpassed by Brett Favre on December 23, 2007, and held the record for most pass attempts in professional football history until surpassed by Brett Favre on December 14, 2008.

Moon was also the first, and currently only, modern African-American quarterback elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He is one of only two people to be enshrined in both the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Canadian Football Hall of Fame. In 2006, he was ranked fifth on a list of the greatest 50 CFL players presented by TSN. Last year Moon was inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame.

He is currently a broadcaster for the Seattle Seahawks.

Moon’s biography, Never Give Up on Your Dream: My Journey, is now available. The book, co-written by Don Yaeger, covers the ups and downs of Moon’s professional career and personal life off the field.
